Life Skills

We know that as a parent, there is hardly anything you want more than helping your child grow up to be a happy, confident and successful adult, equipped with all the skills needed to live a fulfilling life.

And that is exactly the focus of our newest camps – Life Skills or as we call it in the digital age, 'Human Skills.'

In our Human Skills camp, your child will learn to develop their leadership, teamwork, communication, empathy and problem solving skills and learn how to cope with difficult situations, challenges and group dynamics by adopting the right mindset to be successful.

In short, how to be better citizens of the world and to ensure they have a positive impact on society. The camp at its core is very interactive, fun and engaging for the students as we introduce serious topics and learning through fun games and activities as we know they are on their school break.

For this camp, we will partner with Endeavour Journeys, a UK-based education provider who specialises in "human or behavioural skill" development through entrepreneurship in young people. teaching skills for life through entrepreneurship. Click here to find out more about programme and the idea behind it.

We have 2 camp themes based on age:
Little Achievers: For ages 6 – 8, focusing on self-development and core human skills
Little Founders: For ages 9 – 12, focusing on leadership, teamwork, communication, empathy and problem solving through entrepreneurial activities.

Little Achievers  Ages 6 - 8
Students will be invited to come up with solutions to problems that affect them as 6-8 year olds.

This could be anything from dealing with too much homework, not wanting to eat vegetables, or being afraid to speak up in class. The students will then in their teams have to find different ways to solve these problems pratically, while having lots of fun in the process. We aim to equip the students with the foundations on which to navigate difficult times or decisions in their lives and to always keep a positive mindset when doing so.

Each session is hands-on with lots of different activities, making it very engaging for the children, while also helping them to learn quite a serious topics and developing useful skills.

Camp activities:
• Get an introduction on how to identify good habits
• Work in groups to find solutions to the problems identified
• Communicate and present these ideas effectively in front of the class
• Have lots of fun!

How this camp will help your child:
• Improve their communication skills
• Use their inner skills and talents to become more creative at finding solutions to problems
• Work better in teams
• Develop a can-do attitude through hard work and determination
• Understand how to cope and respond to setbacks or failures with confidence
• Feel proud of their achievements, when they get a certificate stating that they are Little Achievers!

This camp is best suited for children who:
• Find it difficult to face new situations and want to improve their creativity, teamwork, leadership, communication and problem-solving skills
• Need to build their confidence and courage to speak in front of their classmates, or in developing friendships outside of school

Upcoming Camps
Dec 9 to 13 2019

Little Founders Ages 9 to 12
Children of this age group are starting to go through many transitions as they embark on their teenage journey.

They are already developing strong, creative minds, are becoming more aware of the big world around them, and this camp challenges them to push themselves further and develop the necessary skills to thrive in the next stage of their development.

Students will be invited to come up with the next big business idea or a solution to a world problem such as climate change, or a social initiative that benefits others. The sky is really the limit when it comes to creativity and we always remind the students that there are no bad ideas, some of them just have to be fine-tuned more.

Even though the topic and task is serious, our teachers will ensure that the camp activities will be very fun and interactive, keeping the children engaged at all times. For example, we teach the students about the serious topic of neutoplasticity through making bread, a real favourite of those attending the course!

Camp Activities:
• Develop their leadership, teamwork, communication, empathy and problem solving skills.

• Work in groups with defined roles, to discuss and solve the world problem they have identified
• Brainstorm ideas and solutions together and come up with the strategy to succeed
• The teachers will facilitate the ideation process and gently guide them
• Have lots of fun!

How this camp will help your child:
• Become persuasive communicators and develop leadership abilities
• Balance analytical and creative skills to find the right ideas and solutions
• Learn how to establish their own personality in front of their peers, and also work more effectively with them
• Unleash their inner entrepreneurs in them
• Feel proud of their achievements, when they get a certificate stating that they are Little Founders!

This camp is best suited for children who:
• Would like to improve their communication skills and self-confidence
• Are creative by nature but need to know how to shape their ideas better
• Want to practice their leadership and teamworking abilities
• Would benefit from having a platform to learn some new skills in a different environment outside of school and the home

“I learnt not to give up, work together and communicate better. When I was going up to the front of the class I did not think I would do well and I would mess up but after attending the Life Skills camp I feel more confident. I love meeting new friends. The teachers were very encouraging and fun. The lessons were helpful and my favourite activity was called "Cold Wind Blows". I liked it because it was fun and helped us to work closely." Ryan Tunstall attended the Life Skills camp during summer

“I learnt how to calm down and overcome my fear. Before I came to this camp I had little confidence but now I am more confident to speak in front of a class and my friends. I loved the games, competitions and the lessons we learned in this camp. The games were exciting, competitions were challenging and the lessons were very interesting!" Candice Shan attended the Life Skills camp during summer
